Planning a British bedroom/exhibition layout based on Woodburn

The big picture:
Update 9th February 2013

Let's get started.

The room is my bedroom. More than enough room I think. It will mean the plan will be shorter, but being a curved layout that will not be a issue. Here's a rough sketch of the room, no dimensions - yet.

While primarily this layout is home based, I must make it removeable - so why not portable. Then I get to show it on occasion. So this is a planning consideration. Controlpanels and backscenes being the two main areas. Since I intend to operate from behind, control panels will no be a probem, and still going DCC - less so.

Looking at the plan in the magazine top down the fit looked as if it was made for my room. The goodsyard on the outside - to be the viewing side at a show. So I may have two backscenes - so what :)

For the public it will have the yard at the front with train passing behind. That'll be ok. In my bedroom it will be made high, quite high. So 2 sets of legs needed, or brackets in the room.

One tricky bit is staging. In the room I'll have semi permenant stagin in the cubbord and swing bridges connecting it. At a show a different module/staging will be needed, and not a problem. Qll just has to be built. It means clearing the cuboard up as well, drats!

Being high I can easily put drawers etc under. It may also challange me to do the whole thing better than a old baseboard, finishing the sides and bottom to make it look presentable. That is a task indeed.

The plan as per the article. Ian has mentioned other ramways and railway connecting, and indicated prior use on the right. That has me intrigued to thin what else could go in, but realistically, as he has done, presented the best option as the plan.As shown the modelled section is about 14ft by 6ft. however I would crop it a lot, and have the aisle inside as much as I can. As drawn the layout would not fit, but the essance maybe.

What follows is apologies to Ian for adapting is rendition to make me think !!!!

First draft.

Several changes to the plan. The righthand sides sees the catch made more of a smal shuting nexk/headshunt but not too long. The goodsloop on the main can be more suited to the express run past, so the cstchpoint is made a bit longer. Trackwork will favor that road too. Also added a catch in on the platform road -optional if told uneeded.

The left side is due to space, start bending the track at the staion, whick moves the bridge etc. accordingly.

The Woodburn ends then the simple small culvet to a tunnel one side, and a decent bridge over water, then a road bridge into trees the other side.

Second draft.

A development of the first draft.

This time I'll rotate the station, as this plan has a longer platform to the first draft. It also extend the loop too.

The Woodburn ends then the simple stram to cross, then to a tunnel one side, and a decent bridge over water, then a 4 lane motorway into trees the other side.
