The big picture:
Update 4th March 2016
Well this is a specific update and it is more of a request for help than a update.

Like many I have a NCE powerpro five amp system, and are using JMRI on aRhasberylinux computer. It's all working well but I are having a problem. TO set the scene I have a totally seperate program track, with a Sountrax program track booster. I have aDPDT center off switch connected to the program track, so I can either use the program track to program, or connect itto the normal layout for testing, so I do not have to handle a loco more than needed.

So to the problem. When I program a loco using the NCE cab, all is good. But when I use JMRI and decoder pro the layout turns on and off many times, a process I am sure is bad for all the locos and accessory decoders. So I want to do something about this.

I were wondering how to fix this. Initially thought there may be have been a JMRI fix but I asked in their yahoo group and did not get a definative answer. So I thought I'd ask elsewhere, butlink back tot his page so my diagrams can be seen.

So the diagram above shows the existing setup at the top, and my proposed solution at the bottom. Basically a relay or 3 pole double throw center off switch so when I select the program track, it cuts off the track from the command station.

This will work I think. But if there is a setting I can change in JMRI that would be easier....

I were told on the JMRI group when I thought I were posting to the NCE group:

The way JMRI works is that it exits Program Track mode whenever it is finished doing a particular task or if it want to recover from some forms of error. It does that for all DCC systems.

As you know, NCE systems shut down the main when you enter program track mode and re-enable it every time you exit program track mode and this can be annoying. The only thing you can do to avoid the nuisance is to put an extra switch in your main layout feeder to manually isolate the track when using JMRI. There is no other solution.

Thanks to David Heep for his insight !

So my idea will be implemented.... in due time !
