The big picture:

Update 26th February 2014

Well the cab clipped back on and the headlight adjusted, so all is ok with the NA. Runs nicely too.

Today some paper planning. Got a roll of paper out and drew some lines, basing the track centeres to accomodate my widest rollingstock then got out the points I made over the christmas break and plonked them onto the paper. The two pictures show the section from the Belgrave end to just where the station will be as well as the carriage workshops.

At the moment it looks the layout wil be 25ft long at the moment, 21ft straight with the curves are each end too. Width wise it looks good, as I had planned a 3ft wide baseboard. There is plenty of room for the station platform and water tank on one side, and the carriage shed, turntable and loco shed on the other side. The shop in the middle may make it or be lowrelief.

On studying the photos I realised the point to the carriage workshops was a left hand point, and not a right hand. So will have to make a new one.

Evolution in plan concepts are shown next. Not to scale but show ideas how the layout may look......

Well measured my ladder test modulem, it's 7ft 6 inch in length. Then unrolled the paper plan and found I can do the whole lot in 25ft in total length. Wth 3ft width it is plenty of room. Found a HO turntable that is ever so slightly bigger than scale. I'm considering using it for now,
