We talk alot about SB&NB trains. Simple NB is a North bound train, and SB is South bound train. At Lagrange the line we see is almost East-West in actual direction. So why say NB SB?
This is because it is a directional term for the railways. They need to know the direction a train is going. So it is a logical term not a physical term. Many railways have variations - East-West is used. And primarily British based countries used the UP & DOWN terms where UP was to the major city - and DOWN was away from that city. At Lagrange we have Two cameras - a "North" Camera and a "South" Camera. The North Camera is the default camera. So when a SB comes we see it on the North camera comming towards us (and away on the South camera). A NB comes towards the South camera and away from the North camera. Simple ! ![]() |
