Autorack

An Autorack is an Automobile carrying car. Some can be 2 or 3 level and capacity depends on the car

These are actually the most common car on a train we see. With Two FORD plants at Obannon, and other car plants urter south - we see a lot of these autoracks. In fact it is rare not to see even one autorack in all trains we see on a regular basis. Of course the exception is MOW trains and some dedicates grain and diverted trains. Other brands use autoracks to take automobiles south to dealers - I think we see them on manifest trains.

Most SB autoracks are empty. Most NB's are full. Thes autoracks are big, but not very heavy. So one can see two locos pullng 9000ft+ of these. As a general rule most autoracks head south to be loaded, but from there can spread ouy on other lines once loaded.
